Get a taste of Security Studies

Do you want to learn from leading academics and security professionals? Then the bachelor’s in Security Studies is the programme for you! 

Are you interested in learning more about this challenging bachelor's programme? Then our Experience Day on Monday 11 November 2024 might be something for you. 

The Experience Day of BSc. Security Studies is offered 'on Campus' at Campus Wijnhaven in The Hague, The Netherlands and online via platform Microsoft Teams.

Programme

The programme is for prospective students and parents/ guides. 

Time	Activity
12:30– 13:00 hrs.	Arrival and Registration Find your way to our Campus Wijnhaven in the city centre of The Hague, The Netherlands and make sure to register at the registration desk.
13:00 - 14.00 hrs.	Mini lecture on Chemical Weapons On Campus in room 3.46 & via livestream This session by programme director Anneleen van der Meer will offer you a snapshot of what a plenary lecture in the programme is like.
14:00 – 14:15 hrs	Break
14:15 – 15:15 hrs	For students only: Mini skills lab (online for one session) in room 2.59 & room 2.59 In this small scale interactive session, we will focus on one of the key skills taught during skills labs, which is being able to have an academic discussion. We will introduce you to a number of tools to help you think critically and build strong academic argumentation. We will put these skills to practice through an interactive discussion held at the end of the workshop on a current security case study.
14:15 - 15:15 hrs	For Parents: Q&A in room 3.46 Parents can ask all their questions to Anneleen van der Meer and the student ambassador Joris van Buiten. This part is not in the online programme.
15:15 - 15:30 hrs	Plenary closing for the programme on campus in room 3.46

For whom?

• Students from 4th, 5th, and 6th year of pre-university education (vwo) who may have already attended an Open Day, or or were unable to attend and/or wish to further explore the bachelor's programme in Security Studies.
• Students who are not yet fully certain about their study choice or are still undecided between two or three programmes and want to make a decision.
