Born in Sacramento, California, Visual Artist Sarah Sense practices what she calls photo-weaving, combining traditional Chitimacha and Choctaw art and craft techniques with photography. Her works investigate landscapes from a Native American perspective, focusing on the colonial impacts on the climate. She is a graduate of Parsons the New School for Design, and her work has been exhibited in major galleries and museums around the world. Her work will be featured in the upcoming exhibit at the Rijksmuseum “American Photography.” She will be coming to Leiden to speak with students and faculty in advance of this opening, with the support of the John Adams Institute.

Hosted by the MA North American Studies and the JEDI fund
