A Textbook About AI & Ethics; How to Do That?
Since AI has become popular, there has been more attention for the ethical issues surrounding the technology: When can we trust AI systems? What about our privacy? Will they make us unemployed? Or even bigger: What will be left of us if computers can do things that only we could do in the past? It is important to teach AI students to think about these kinds of questions — in a well-founded, academic way. But a good textbook is lacking — I think. They are usually either rather technical (perhaps nice for computer scientists, but ethics is not a technology at all) or very critical and pessimistic (that does not suit computer scientists). That is why I am writing a textbook myself. But how to do that, and what choices to make?
