Date

Time

On October 24-25, we are organizing the Kroese-Duijsters symposium at the Leiden Institute of Chemistry, Leiden University. The Kroese-Duijsters Symposia are supported by a generous donation by Dr. C.J. Kroese and Mrs. Mr. J.A.M. Kroese-Duijsters, who established the ‘Kroese-Duijsters Fund’ in 2015. One of the aims of the Kroese-Duijsters Fund is to organize an annual or biennial symposium to promote the Leiden Institute of Chemistry’s excellence in research, to increase the visibility of (junior) researchers and to strengthen national and international networks of the LIC. The Kroese-Duijsters Symposium further provides a unique opportunity to stimulate interdisciplinarity by inviting world-leading scientists from different fields and at different stages of their careers, to come together and exchange ideas.

The topic of this year’s symposium will be 2-dimensional materials, from graphene and graphene-like materials to transition metal dichalcogenides and 2D oxides.

Confirmed invited speakers are:

Thomas Heine, Technical University of Dresden
Gertjan van Baarle, Leiden Probe Microscopy B.V.
Semonti Bhattacharyya, Leiden Institute of Physics

We are awaiting the confirmation from a few more. The program will also have opportunities for contributed talks and poster presentations.
