Connect & Implement: FAIR Implementation Profiles

Date
Thursday 26 September 2024
Time

Online

This Connect & Implement session is part of the Open Science Week. Kristina Hettne (UBL, Centre for Digital Scholarschip) and Alessa Gambardella (Science Faculty data steward) will discuss FAIR Implementation Profiles in their talk titled "An introduction to FAIR Implementation Profiles: driving choices for going FAIR".

Abstract

While the Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable (FAIR) principles have been around for a decade, implementing them still remains a challenge. More recently implementation tools and workflows have trickled down to research communities beyond dedicated projects to support increasing demand for FAIR and open data from funders.

In this session, we will introduce you to FAIR Implementation Profiles (FIPs) as a means for research communities to declare FAIR implementation choices (e.g. identifiers, metadata standards, licenses). We will share with you what they are, how they are made, and why they are useful as well as show you resources for building and finding them.

This session

The main session will last one hour with extra time allocated for asking questions and continuing the discussion with those who wish to stay a bit longer. The session is open to anyone with an interest in the topic. If you are a member of the Leiden University Research Data Management Community, you will have received an invitation by email. If you are not a member, or did not receive the email, please register to attend by emailing datamanagement@library.leidenuniv.nl

About Connect & events

This event is part of the “Connect and …” series of meetings arranged by, and for, the Leiden University Research Data Management Community. The meetings take place every month at different days and times, so as to maximize access according to people’s different working hours. Topics and speakers are proposed by members of the Community.

You can post a suggestion in the Community's MSTeams space, or write to datamanagement@library.leidenuniv.nl, if you have a topic you'd like to discuss in a future meeting and the CDS team will help to make it happen.

If you’re interested in joining the Research Data Management Community, please fill out the registration form.
