ALGANT Graduation
The 2024 Graduation Ceremony of the ALGANT consortium takes place in the Academy Building. It is the fourth graduation in Leiden—the first time was in 2009. Since 2014, the headquarters of the consortium have been at the Mathematical Institute in Leiden.
ALGANT (ALgebra, Geometry And Number Theory) is a specialised master in mathematics. Many of the 400 earlier graduates spent one of their two master years in Leiden at the Mathematical Institute, and three quarters of the more than 40 ALGANT PhD’s defended their theses in Leiden.
During the ceremony, the 24 graduates of the 18th ALGANT cohort will receive their diploma out of the hands of various professors from the eight ALGANT universities.
A video recording of the ceremony is available on the ALGANT website.
20th Anniversary Ceremony
ALGANT was created in 2004 as an Erasmus Mundus master between the universities of Bordeaux, Leiden en Padova. After twenty years, it has grown to involve the universities of Milano and Paris-Saclay, in addition to the German universities of Duisburg-Essen and Regensburg and Concordia University in Montreal (Canada).
The start of the third ALGANT-decennium will be celebrated by contributions of young ALGANT staff: Kevin Destagnol (Paris), Johannes Sprang (Essen) and Jan Vonk (Leiden) will share their view of the ALGANT future with us. In addition, there will be a personal reflection by Hendrik Lenstra on 20 years of ALGANT.
The ceremony will be moderated by founding father and consortium president Peter Stevenhagen.
