Balyn Zaro received her PhD in chemical biology in 2014 after working with Professor Matthew Pratt’s lab. She went on to a post-doctoral position with Ben Cravatt at Scripps Research where she developed novel methodologies to improve the selectivity of covalent inhibitors and discovered the mechanism of action of the immunomodulatory covalent drug Tecfidera. She gained additional training with Irv Weissman at Stanford School of Medicine in blood formation and macrophage function. Her lab leverages chemical biology and proteomics techniques to study macrophage phagocytosis.
