Have you thought about your ambitions after your graduation or promotion? Come and get some inspiration from Wim Klop! In a talk show setting, he will discuss his impressive career at one of Holland's largest international companies – dsm-firmenich, previously Royal DSM – and answer audience questions. 

The Career Talk will take place on 4 June at 16.00h in the Gorlaeus Building. The talk show will close with announcing the winner of dsm-firmenich’s Krijn Rietveld Awards. Afterward, there will be light refreshments.

All students and staff of the Faculty of Science are welcome to attend. Registration is obligatory.

About Wim Klop 
Wim Klop, a trained chemist, joined legacy DSM in 1984 and has held leadership roles in many business areas, such as R&D, Innovation, Project Management, Intellectual Property, and more.  Notably, he served as Chief Operating Officer for DSM China from 2010 to 2014 and later as interim Chief Technology Officer in 2016/2017. From 2019 to 2022 he was Vice President of R&D for Food & Beverage and leading the Biotech Center. In 2022/2023 he was Vice President of Science & Innovation Portfolio & Strategy. Post the DSM and Firmenich merger, Wim now focuses on leading the integration of the Science & Research teams from both companies.

The Krijn Rietveld Award: stimulating innovation in Data Science and Life Sciences 
Did you know that dsm-firmenich awards the best MSc thesis and the best scientific article by PhD students or post-docs in the field of life sciences, health science, biotech, or environmental health science with a data science component? Wim will reveal how you can become eligible for these prestigious prizes and will also announce the 2024 Krijn Rietveld Award winners. 

Fun fact: Royal DSM originated from the Dutch State Mines. After closing the mines, the company evolved from producing bulk chemicals to more bioscience-based solutions while keeping the original abbreviation of the company name.
