From Soledad Acosta de Samper and Albalucía Angel to Hazel Robinson Abrahams and Amalialú Posso Figueroa. During the Symposium & Workshop Experience and Voice: Library of Colombian Women Writers, we focus on books written by Colombian women writers from different historical periods. The symposium and workshop will be held on Thursday, 23 May in the Vossius room of the Leiden University Library. The events will be in English (symposium) and Spanish (workshop).

Donation Biblioteca de Escritoras Colombianas

During the Symposium, Carolina Olarte-Bácares, Ambassador of Colombia, donates the Biblioteca de Escritoras Colombianas to the UBL. The Biblioteca de Escritoras Colombianas (2022) is a series of 18 books by Colombian writers from a variety of historical periods, selected by a team of researchers and writers led by author Pilar Quintana. This publication gives the writers a platform and emphasizes the versatility of Colombia's literature and history. Afterwards, Ambassador Carolina Olarte-Bácares will give a lecture entitled Building a Feminist Foreign Policy in Colombia: challenges and opportunities.

  • Tatiana Vargas Ortiz (Leiden Centre for the Arts in Society). The library of Colombian women writers: Rewriting the androcentric tradition in Colombian literature.
