Marian Hickendorff, Universiteit Leiden
Associate professor Educational Sciences
Marian Hickendorff studied Psychology at Leiden University between 2000-2005, where she graduated in two specializations: Methodology and Statistics, and Developmental and Educational Psychology. This dual interest reflected in her next career step: a PhD project on the cutting surface between these two domains, addressing research questions concerning primary school mathematics education with advanced statistical models. After obtaining her PhD in 2011 she kept on working in this area, first as assistant professor in Methodology and Statistics and since 2014 as assistant, and later associate, professor in Educational Sciences. Her main activities include research, teaching, and management tasks.
Marlijn Heijnen, TNO
Scientist - Project lead - Human Machine Teaming -
AI technology - Defense, Safety & Security
Marlijn Heijnen already held a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, prior to her application for the masters’ program in Methodology and Statistics. During the M&S Master she did an internship (followed by several work years) at a political party in The Netherlands in which she applied statistical methods to enhance political campaign strategies. However, she wanted to broaden her horizon and applied for the trainee programme of TNO. After 2 years of various assignments at different departments, she landed as a research scientist at the Human Machine Teaming (HMT) department of TNO location Soesterberg. Her work focuses on responsible application of military AI.
