The Department of Child Law of Leiden University and Defence for Children invite you to the ninth Jaap Doek Children’s Rights Thesis Award ceremony, which will take place on Friday 15 December from 14.00 onwards.
The prize will go to the best master’s thesis in the field of children’s rights. From the many theses submitted by law students and students from other disciplines, the jury, led by chairman Jaap Doek, has nominated six candidates for the thesis prize.

14.40: Keynote speech ‘Children in armed conflicts’ by Dr Mikiko Otani, member and former chairman of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, international human rights lawyer in Japan and guest lecturer at Leiden University (rotating professorship ‘Enforcement of Children’s Rights’)

Location and registration guests
The Jaap Doek Thesis Award will take place on December 15, 2023 in room A0.51 of the Kamerlingh Onnes Gebouw at Steenschuur 25, 2311 ES Leiden. Registration for this event is necessary. Registrations can be submitted until Friday, December 8, at jeugdrecht@law.leidenuniv.nl
