Abstract:
The Daoist term wanwu translates as “ten thousand things,” “myriad happenings,” or “all that exists.” It embraces the infinite possibilities of life in all forms. In his ecological art practice, Zheng Bo explores the meaning of wanwu in and beyond Chinese cultural context. His newly published book, WANWU I (König, 2023), reflects on his versatile artistic practices through six in-depth discussions -- on wanwu, roots, pleasure, ecosex, flourishing and equality -- with leading scholars and curators in the field. The conversation by Zheng Bo and Minna Valjakka will investigate further the essential aspects of ecological art and its future possibilities to enable us to understand and reconnect with myriad happenings.
