Prof. Seyedsayamdost does pioneering research in the discovery of novel bioactive molecules from microbial sources with a focus on elucidating their functions, biosynthetic pathways, and regulatory mechanisms. Of particular note is his team’s development of the HiTES (High Throughput Elicitor Screening) system that can be used to elicit various “cryptic” biosynthetic gene clusters in pursuit of novel biologically active natural products.
In recognition of his excellent work, Prof. Seyedsayamdost has received multiple fellowships and awards, including the Novartis and Life Sciences Research Foundation Fellowship (2008), Princeton Environmental Institute Innovative Research Award (2015), NIH Director’s New Innovator Award (2015), Princeton Intellectual Property Accelerator Award (2016), and Natural Product Reports Emerging Investigator Lectureship Award (2019).
