About the Night of the Lobbyist
The Dutch-language event Night of the Lobbyist is an initiative by Leiden University and the Public Affairs Academy, aiming to connect academic research and practical experience in lobbying, share new insights and experiences, and foster a better understanding of the role of advocacy within our democracy. The third edition will take place on 18 January from 18:00 to 22:45 at the Nieuwe Kerk and Amare in The Hague.
Programme
The evening will kick off with a keynote by Renske Leijten (former Member of Parliament), where she will discuss what advocates can learn from the childcare benefits scandal. Following this, 10 interactive breakout sessions will feature leading experts from practice and academia, including Albert Jan Kruiter (Instituut voor Publieke Waarden), Caelesta Braun (Leiden University), Willeke Slingerland (Saxion University of Applied Sciences), Pim Kraan (Save the Children), Joost Berkhout (University of Amsterdam), Leonard Geluk (Association of Dutch Municipalities), Mara van Waveren (Lobby Lokaal Foundation), Simon Otjes (Leiden University), Carla van Laer (Nederlands Kanker Collectief), and Caspar van den Berg (Senator, University of Groningen, and Leiden University), who will share their insights and perspectives. The evening will conclude with a plenary session featuring comedy by Sjaak Bral.
