The group of Christian Heinis is renowned for cutting-edge research on cyclic and bicyclic peptides and their application to address difficult-to-drug proteins. For this purpose, he has pioneered several exciting chemistries for peptide synthesis and cyclization as well as high-throughput screening methods including phage display methods to efficiently explore the binding of (bi-)cyclic peptides to target proteins-of-interest. Next to his academic excellence, Prof. Heinis is also actively exploring the translational potential of his (bi-)cyclic peptides e.g. as co-founder of the company Bicycle Therapeutics.
