Craft your own empirical research in workshops of the ELS lab @Leiden!
Are you curious about empirically studying a legal question and willing to give it a try, but simply wouldn’t know where to start? Or do you already have some experience with empirical research, but would need further assistance to bring a project to completion? Then the members of the ELS lab @Leiden are here to help you out! Starting in February, we are launching a trajectory of à la carte workshops aimed at teaching and guiding legal scholars through the process of conducting empirical research.
This initiative is in line with the vision of the Netherlands Academy for Empirical Legal Studies. The ELS Atelier is a place where, in small groups, you will actively work your way through the empirical cycle, irrespective of the stage you are in. There will be an expert and peers to guide you on your journey, from thinking of a relevant research question and selecting the appropriate empirical method to designing your study. Perhaps even collecting and analyzing data and reporting the findings!
All you need to do is show up on February 14, 16:00-18:00, for the kick-off event at the KOG, A028. This is when you will receive more information about the workshops that you can participate in during the year. We’ll be offering bimonthly workshops to help you make progress in your research project. Of course this trajectory is non-committal, but we hope that together with your Leiden colleagues you are eager to familiarize yourself with the wonderful world of empirical legal research. For more information, please feel free to reach out to Niek Strohmaier. We are looking forward to seeing you at the kick-off event! Would you please let us know whether you’re coming?
