As a result of an increased life expectancy, more people suffer from chronic diseases and discomfort. Elderly patients may have multiple diseases simultaneously, with concomitant multiple medications.

The LUMC medical research profile Life Course envisions age-related diseases as a holistic problem affecting many tissues simultaneously. Elderly patients are treated according to this perspective. Creating value for elderly patients also means focusing on the consequences of disease and the quality of life.
